Confirm the business details

Check the business name, appropriate address or service area, phone number, category, and hours. Google recommends accurate, complete information in its local ranking guidance.

Assign someone to maintain holiday hours, location changes, and important updates. Do not invent offices or locations to expand a service area.

Review the website destinations

Open the links used by the business profile and important directory listings. Confirm that the page explains the relevant services and provides a working contact route.

On a phone, check the menu, phone link, form labels, confirmation message, and receiving inbox. Record problems with screenshots and the exact URL.

Check service and location content

Review whether pages describe real services and actual coverage. Include useful details that answer customer questions and avoid copying the same paragraph across location names.

Give each important page a descriptive title, clear heading, and links to related information. Consolidate pages that serve the same purpose and add little distinct value.

Review photos and feedback

Use approved photos and a consistent process for responding to customer reviews. Google identifies relevance, distance, and prominence as primary local ranking factors in its documentation.

Avoid promising a fixed map position. Record what was improved and compare activity over a meaningful period, while accounting for business and seasonal changes.

Keep an action log

Create a list with the issue, affected URL or profile, proposed correction, owner, and verification date. Separate access problems from content changes.

Review the list after major business changes and website releases. A short maintained record is more useful than a large checklist completed once and forgotten.
